Handbag Essentials

I like to be prepared for absolutely anything. Need something? I probably have it stashed away in my handbag. However, amongst the lipglosses, loose coins and three pairs of glasses (prescription glasses and sunglasses, both prescriptions and non), I have a few items that I think are “essentials” and won’t leave the house without.

Hand sanitiser/hand cream: Probably obvious, but public transport/public spaces are riddled with germs and hand sanitiser is essential. Hand cream is good to have too, keep that skin hydrated.

Spare contact lenses/glasses cleaning wipes: I have terrible vision and wear either contact lenses or glasses at all times. I always keep some extra contacts and my glasses with me, in case the contacts I’m wearing are irritating me, and some glasses cleaning wipes stashed away in my handbag just in case.

Pens: You never know when you’re going to need a pen, and I probably have at least 5 with me at any given time.

Perfume: I love making sure I smell good, and having a small bottle of perfume with me means that I can give myself a little mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Anti-bacterial wipes: I stash a travel pack of wipes in my bag just incase I need to wipe something down, either in my car or otherwise.

Mini tweezers/nail scissors: You’d be surprised how often you need a pair of scissors or some tweezers, so it’s always a good idea to keep some with you…just make sure you take them out if you end up using your bag as hand luggage on a plane.

Headphones: I don’t often use headphones but sometimes I find myself in a position where I need them, such as when I have to take public transport, so I always keep a spare pair of headphones in my bag (plus the iPhone headphone adaptor incase I remember to throw my favourite pair in as I leave the house).

An umbrella: I live in the North East of England…it rains a lot, sometimes without warning. So it’s always nice to have just in case.

Hopefully this post has given you some ideas for things to keep in your handbag.
