I love trying out new beauty products, it’s one of my absolute favourite things to do. I just love the whole process of applying my makeup and I especially love finding new products that work well with my skin type and personal makeup routine. However, as much as I love trying new things, there are some products that have been living in my dressing table drawer for some time, and today I wanted to share those with you.
Simple Water Boost Hydrating Booster – £6.99 available at Boots
I’ve only been using this for a few weeks so far, but it’s become an essential step in my skincare routine. I have very dry skin, especially in the colder months, so I like to try to find products which will help to maximise the moisture in my skin. I apply this before moisturiser, and it helps to make my skin feel silky smooth and significantly more hydrated than when I don’t use it. It retails for £6.99, but if you’re quick, it’s currently half price at Boots!
Garnier Micellar Water – £7.99 (700ml) available at Boots
I typically take my makeup off with a Simple Cleansing Wipe, but then I like to go in with a cotton pad (or 5) and some of this micellar water, to take off anything that the wipe might have missed. It’s such a gentle cleanser, it removes all of the dirt and impurities without damaging, irritating or drying out my sensitive skin. Of the few micellar waters that I’ve tried in the past, this one is the one that I always go back to. I even use the Garnier Micellar Gel Wash as my day-to-day face wash!
This foundation is my absolute favourite. It’s full coverage, lasts all day and doesn’t feel heavy on my skin. I’ve gone through more than one bottle of this since I discovered it in October 2017, because I use it almost every time that I do my makeup. I’ve tried out other foundations since then, but I always find myself coming back to this. I love the coverage, I love how flawless it makes my skin look and, most of all, I love the price tag!
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer – £22 available from Tarte Cosmetics
This is a cult favourite for a reason. It’s incredibly high coverage, light weight and doesn’t crease throughout the day. I tried this out for the first time last year and I’m onto my second bottle, because I love it so much. However, if you don’t want to pay the higher price tag/have it shipped internationally, the Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define concealer is only £4 and a perfect dupe (even if it is near impossible to get your hands on).
This is the most incredible, brightening under-eye concealer ever. I use this pretty much every day, underneath either the Tarte or Makeup Revolution concealers and it really helps to waken up my eyes. Alone, it’s amazing at really making you look awake, but under your regular concealer, it just helps to amp up your makeup and completely cover any dark circles. Perfect for anyone who didn’t get enough sleep last night!
Nars blush in “Orgasm” – £24 available at ASOS
As you can probably tell by how destroyed it is, this is my all-time favourite blush. It’s the perfect peachy pink with some gold reflects scattered through it. It makes your skin look perfectly flushed and healthy. I love this so much. I wear it with warm and cool toned looks because I just can’t get enough of this shade. Plus, it works year round so you don’t have to think about reaching for new blush each season.
E.L.F Baked Highlighter in “Moonlight Pearls” – £5 available at Superdrug
I picked this up from Superdrug a few months ago, having seen some rave reviews about these highlighters, and let me tell you it lived up to the hype. These come in a few different shades, but this was the one that attracted me the most. It’s a beautiful, neutral champagne shade that works well on my skin tone. I love that this gives your skin such a stunning glow, without having chunky glitter in it, as some more affordable highlighters do. All I’ll say is to make sure you rub away the top layer of this, with your finger or a brush, to make sure you get the full potential of this. It’s so affordable, but I think I like this just as much, if not more, than some of my high-end highlights!
Makeup Revolution Brown Pomade – £6 available at Superdrug
Makeup Revolution is absolutely killing it right now. Some of my favourites from them are their concealer, their eyeshadows and this brow pomade. I’ve never tried the Anastasia brow pomade, as I’m a bit of a pomade novice so I’m sticking to drugstore for now, but this £6 one from Makeup Revolution is fantastic. Long lasting and super easy to use, I can’t fault it. I like to apply mine with a dual-ended brow brush by NYX. It takes next to no time to get fabulous, bold brows (my personal fave). #BrowsOnFleek as the kids would say (lol). Just make sure you twist the lid on tight to keep it from drying out to make sure you get the most out of this.
Tarte Park Ave Princess Chisel Palette – £40 available at Tarte Cosmetics
This is my current favourite palette for contour, bronzing and more natural, everyday eye looks. It has the perfect mix of matte bronzers, shimmer bronzers, and matte highlights. All of the shades are super pigmented and easy to blend. My favourite shades are “Princess Cut” for contour (fun fact: that’s my favourite diamond cut), “Angle” for a warm bronze, and “Halo” for setting the under eye. Plus, the packaging is so cute. Bonus!
Morphe 35O Palette – £23 available at Beauty Bay
I dare you to find one person who doesn’t love this palette. It’s the perfect mix of warm neutrals, all of which are so pigmented I could cry, and way more affordable than you’d expect. I have the 35T palette too, but this is the one that gets the most use from me. I even did a makeup tutorial using this palette on my YouTube channel! I love how diverse this palette is. You can do deep smokey eyes, and more wearable daytime looks too! Plus, the shades are perfect for both Summer and Autumn, so you can get a ton of use out of it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Palette – £43 available at Beauty Bay
Another one of my favourite palettes, although this one is a little higher in price. This is such a stunning, highly pigmented palette that I adore. It has beautiful warm tones, including some bolder shades of red, and I just love this. But, if you’re on more of a budget, Makeup Revolution make a perfect dupe for this palette. I hate having to constantly reapply lipstick, and let me tell you…this lip colour does not come off for anything. Seriously, you need a cotton pad soaked in micellar water to get this bad boy off your lips. I bought this one day before a shift at work, where we were told to wear bright colours for charity. I’d forgotten to take my lipstick with me and decided to pick one up on my way into work. I grabbed this because I loved how bright it was, slapped it on, and was shocked to find that at the end of my 8 hour shift it still looked just as good as when I first applied it! After eating, I will touch up slightly, but I’ve definitely gone whole days without touching this. It’s my go-to product for whenever I want to wear a red lip now!
